Zheng Kang and Datong Huo. The First Signs of Quantification in Chinese Historiography. On an international level, Chinese historiography has not shown an intense interest in quantification. However, two high points in its recent evolution can be noted. First, during the 1920's, Chinese historians had developed a project « to make history with statistics », but this brief attemps failed to attract followers. Second, after the Cultural Revolution some scholars tried to develop a more scientific and rational approach to history. The wealth of this field, the originality of the civilization and the contribution of modern technologies produced a favorable context to quantitative investigations
