Within the last three decades, while migrations toward urban centers were in progress, festivals and folk parades have been multiplying in a number of Bolivian cities. What is the meaning of these cultural events that can bring together no less than a thousand dancers and musicians ? Who are the participants and what are their motivations ? This analysis attempts to show the various interests that motivate the festival and, through their presentation, one can unveil the complex construction of the Bolivian nation
