This study analyses the use of Patronage, basis of ecclesiastical government and keystone of political order in the Province-diocese of Córdoba (Argentina) between 1820 and 1852. The study of cases enables to analyse the principles justifying the use of this prerogative and the concrete practices revealing the exercise of sovereignty and its own limits
