The objective of this study is to analyze the\nperception of the residents of the city of Valencia on\nthe social impact of the Trinidad Alfonso Valencia\nMarathon and to identify the factors in which the\nindicators of perceived impacts are grouped. A sample\nof 391 residents in the city was collected through\na convenience sampling, with a mean age of 34.26\n(SD=11.78) and a distribution of 56.5% were men\nand 43.5% were women. Thirty-two items were used,\nevaluated on a five-point Likert scale, about possible\nbenefits and costs associated with holding the event in\nthe city. An exploratory factorial analysis was carried\nout that allowed identifying five factors: economic\nbenefits and image of the city (5 items), social benefits\n(5 items), pride and identification with the community\n(3 items), sports impact (4 items), and socioeconomic\nproblems (5 items). Residents positively value the\nevent’s impact on aspects related to economic benefits\nand city image, pride and identification with the\ncommunity, and impact on sport, showing a more\nneutral trend in social benefits and socioeconomic\nproblems. The practice of sport is a variable that\nsignificantly influences the perception of citizens,\nwhile gender or level of education does not seem to\ninfluence most factors. Finally, as age increases, there\nis a tendency to value more strongly the possible\nsocioeconomic problems derived from hosting the\nevent
