The article concerns the publication, analysis and chronological interpretation of a representative series of iron belt buckles discovered during excavations of the Gorny-10 necropolis. This site, located in the Krasnogorsk district of the Altai Territory, was studied by expeditions of the Altai State University and the Scientific and Practical Center «Heritage» in 2000–2002. In 33 graves of the complex, 49 iron buckles were found, which were located mainly in the area of the pelvic bones of deceased people. These items were part of the accompanying inventory of 18 men (75% of burials of representatives of this sex), seven women (28%), five children and adolescents (25%). Morphological analysis and classification of objects made it possible to identify 10 types of belt buckles. Comparison of the available materials with relevant analogies from monuments of the early Middle Ages, studied in different parts of Eurasia, made it possible to make a number of conclusions about the genesis and chronology of the products. It was established that most iron buckles are represented by shieldless modifications (types 1–4), as well as samples with movable «plate» shields-half-clips (types 6–8), which existed for a long time
