I wish to express my sympathies to the reader of an autobiography and the scientist on whose shoulders the task of attempting to detect some significancies in the mere blabberings of the narrator has fallen upon. Even I regard the effort of putting my life down on paper as an absurdity and the entire passage through life as petty fumbling: Not much of a journey but what is done is done. (58-year-old female teacher, the first paragraph of the final sequence in her autobiography)
