Le samedi 19 mars 2016, une forte déflagration est entendue à Beyoğlu : un attentat‐suicide à la bombe a ciblé un groupe de touristes israéliens, en tuant trois dont deux Israélo-américains, ainsi qu’un Iranien se trouvant dans les alentours. L’opération terroriste revendiquée par DAECH a aussi blessé onze autres membres de ce groupe, un autre Iranien, deux Irlandais, un Islandais, un Allemand et un citoyen de Dubaï.
