Over the last decade landscape projects have come to the forefront of the academic archaeological agenda in the Czech Republic, and especially in Bohemia. These projects bring new understanding, without excavation, of past landscapes and their settlement systems. This article provides a brief summary of the methods employed – aerial survey has been particularly prominent. It also assesses the contribution the results have made in changing theoretical perspectives in Czech archaeology, and in terms of the understanding of settlement structure and past human-landscape relationships
