Safavid textiles (16th–18th centuries) represent a significant achievement in Iranian visual culture, conveying multi-layered cultural, political, and spiritual meanings through natural motifs, particularly the cypress tree. This study employs a qualitative semiotic analysis approach to investigate the application of nature-based symbolism in Safavid textiles, focusing on the role of the cypress in articulating concepts of mystical love and political power. Following the exclusion of duplicates and the adoption of a purposive sampling method, ten unique specimens of exquisite Safavid textiles, which integrate cypress motifs with human figures, were selected for analysis. The analysis of these samples reveals how the cypress functioned as a multifaceted symbol, representing both royal authority and political legitimacy, as well as the eternal connection between the monarch and the cosmic order. Ultimately, this research demonstrates how Safavid textiles synthesized esthetics and ideology, utilizing the visual language of nature to embody spiritual depth, political power, and the complexities of courtly life
