Rainfall and stream water quality were investigated in the area surrounding the Avonmouth industrial complex. The specific conductivity values of the rainwater were significantly higher downwind of the complex during single storms. The long‐term effect of this change in rainfall quality is to produce a marked increase in stream water solute levels to the north‐east of Avonmouth
