Minerals and mining operations threaten natural waters (ground and surface waters) and the health of animals and humans. Toxic pollution of water and soils as well as species extinction from wastewaters and mine waters are produced by increasing anthropogenic activities. The world is experiencing these environmental alterations whose resultant effects could lead to untoward perturbations. Several researchers in developed nations are equipped with the information and expertise about these environmental alterations which can contribute to their retardation or prevention, but not so in non‐developed nations. Ability to prevent or retard water pollution from trace elements and mining operations is consistent with global responsibility to avoid untoward effects on water, land, air and biodiversity
