The VIIth International Congress of Anthropological and Ethnographic Sciences, to be held in Moscow in August 1964, will be a broad scholarly forum in which some 2,000 persons from 69 countries will participate. The Congress will discuss problems of the theory and methodology of ethnography, the history of economies and of material culture, the history of the social structure and social institutions of primitive society; folklore, folk music and theater; folk architecture; folk graphic arts; ethnogeography, applied ethnography, ethnolinguistics, religious beliefs and mythology, etc. The broad range of problems to be discussed by the Congress is evidence of the contemporary level of development of two sciences that have long since become associated and supplementary to each other - anthropology, which studies the history of mankind in its biological aspect, and ethnography, which belongs among the social sciences
