Citizen participation in neighborhood transformation takes many forms, and its out comes include neighborhood preservation, exclusion, displacement and / or revitalization, and fair-share housing-in both urban and suburban contexts. A social movements or resource mobilization approach to its study is recommended, one which attends to both pluralist and socialist theoretical paradigms. The article concludes with the presentation of a model of factors whose study is required for the full analysis of citizen participation in processes of neighborhood stability and change
