The November 1963 coup in Saigon resulted in the murder of President Ngô Đình Diệm and his brother Nhu. While there has been research work done about the coup, there has not been a study of the impact of the coup from a Taiwanese perspective. The Republic of China (Taiwan) and the Republic of Vietnam (RVN) had forged closer diplomatic ties through Taiwanese economic aid and technical assistance. This paper traces the investigations by the Taiwanese government and media into the causes of the coup, alleged United States (US) involvement, the state of US-RVN relations and Taiwanese relations with the US and post-coup RVN
