Following the previous publication [Nepomnin, 2019] The article examines two Asian models of traditional societies: Chinese and Japanese, by using a comparative historical method. Referring to various examples from the socio-economic and political life of two countries, the author demonstrates the fundamental difference in the historical evolution of China and Japan. While Eastern feudalism was firmly established in China, Japan already in the Middle Ages switched to the Western European model, based on the right of private property and civilization of personality. The article emphasizes the uniqueness of the Japanese model since such a social system did not evolve in any Eastern country
