After ten years of interruption, a new research was undertaken at Murviel-lès-Montpellier (Hérault) on the antic agglomeration of the Castellas, name which will be prefered to oppidum which does not fit to the nature of the site. In 2001, the first excavations permit the confrontation of ground datas with the informations, F.Favory has just published these informations. This papers deals with three points : the fortification, the middle terraces dwellings and the monumental area. The results of the first year of excavating allow the proposition of a new hypothesis concerning the chronology of the occupation, the nature of the monuments and the fonction of the agglomeration
