This article proposes a model for the understanding of the professionalism of social work through the review of the changes that are currently impacting the social work profession and its professional practice. This model identifies four key dimensions that constitute the professionalization and that interrelated among them allowed the emergency of distinctive areas of performance of professional social work in Chile
