this paper examines parenthood in germany from an intercultural perspective. It analyses the political discussion about parenting in migrant families. Particularly parents with migration background are confronted with increasing expectations of current integration and education policies. they are expected to make use of extra-familial care and education offers to cope with stereotyped ethnic and class-related socialization deficits. Focusing on research results with an intercultural comparison approach, the example of fatherhood indicates the dynamics and changes in the of concept parenthood caused by the migration process
