The prospect of Quebec secession remains the greatest threat to the integrity of the Canadian state and the well-being of Canadians. This was clearly demonstrated by the razor-thin defeat of the sovereigntist force in the Quebec referendum of October 1995. Robert Young is an expert on secession. His previous work, The Secession of Quebec and the Future of Canada, was hailed by Jeffrey Simpson as "the definitive book on the subject from an English-Canadian writer."
