Schlagworte: Politikfeldgenese, politische Handlungsfelder, Querschnittspolitik, typologische Theorie, Integrationspolitik ----- Boundaries and Configurations of Policy Fields. Towards a Typological Theory Abstract New problems become politically relevant, and sometimes new policy fields emerge. Yet as most approaches to policy analysis assume that policy fields have clarified boundaries, the formation of policy fields remains beyond their analytical scope. Fuzzy configurations with contested boundaries are not captured well so far. Against this background, I suggest a typology that distinguishes delimited, hybrid, and decentered policy fields. In this outline of a typological theory, fields are conceived of as institutionalized relations between actors, institutions, issues and framings. The importance ascribed to meaning-making processes implies that fields are constructed. To illustrate the application of the typological theory, I discuss developments in Germany’s immigrant integration policy. Target-oriented and institutionally- oriented conceptions of the field compete with each other and have served as alternative configurational plans for the emerging policy field. Keywords: Policy fields, cross-cutting policy, typological theory, immigrant integration policy ----- Bibliographie: Blätte, Andreas: Grenzen und Konfigurationen politischer Handlungsfelder.
