The number of the elderly population has been increasing notably, attributed to a greater life expectancy, probably related to the increase in the search for regular physical activity, generating the need for changes in the social structure, so that these people have good quality of life.Physical activity is an important means of prevention and health promotion through its benefits; this article aims to address these benefits to achieve quality of life in old age and show that among the results we can mention that the pleasure of being in social interaction makes the elderly cooperative and participatory, thus making the appreciation of health and identification of the importance of physical exercise become evident.The actions that emphasize the importance of practicing physical activities with the engagement of Physical Education professionals are a determining factor to ensure the improvement in the quality of life of the elderly
