The text analyzes the short story "O Velho e os Trs Meninos -The old man and three boys", by Euclides Jos Teixeira Neto , a writer from Bahia, Brazil. The narrative is divided into two parts. The first reveals the precariousness, vulnerability and social conditions in which agricultural workers' families, especially children, lived when fired from cocoa farms in Southern Bahia impacted by witches' broom and drought, in the second half of the 20th century. In the second, when reporting a specific situation involving a retired old man and three boys, the narrator ironically questions the framing suffered by the children. The analysis proposal takes Judith Butler's (2016) considerations as a guideline, when she reflects on the impact of social frames or framings imposed on the most socially vulnerable. Added to the perspective developed by Didi-Huberman (2011) when reflecting on the fragile, tenuous and pulsating firefly light. The analysis of both parts of the short story is built from the studies of Giorgio Agamben (2008, 2007, 2015) when approaching the animal condition of man, whose power drives to life, despite the dynamics of domination and submission traced between men, denouncing the precariousness of life and states of exception. Pl Pelbart (2016) brings to reflection the importance of resuming affection, which allows a better understanding of the "old man's" actions, affected subject, in relation to the "three boys"
