This chapter examines the international legal corpus on internal displacement: United Nations Guiding Principles on Internal Displacement (Guiding Principles). This chapter considers the provision of this instrument across four pertinent areas: prevention, protection, humanitarian assistance and durable solutions. Moreover, this chapter examines the right not to be arbitrarily displaced which incorporates the corpus of legal protection for internally displaced persons (IDPs). This chapter further considers the impact which the Guiding Principles have had from a normative perspective
