Background: Patient-centered clinical method (PCCM) is, nowadays, one of the most essential precepts taught during medical education and has gradually replaced biomedical model-based education.PCCM aims not only to treat the disease but to contemplate the individual themselves conjointly, comprehending their experience with the disease in all its contexts. Objective: To report the experiences lived by medical students in the practical application of PCCM, through home visits. Methods: A descriptive, qualitative study, the type of experience report, regarding the activities carried out by medical students at a Family Health Unit (FHU) in the city of Vitoria -ES, based on home visits to a family nucleus.Experience report: Using the Person-Centered Clinical Method in home visits, the students explored the feelings and impacts experienced by the assisted family in the health-disease process of one of its members. They also considered the family and social context in which the patient was involved, identifying the support provided by family members and friends as a facilitator in their journey of coping with the illnesses.Based on this experience, the project facilitated the development of strategies and intervention activities aimed at improving the health of family members, involving a multidisciplinary team such as healthcare agents, doctors, and physiotherapists. Conclusion: The critical role of a welcoming and reliable environment among medical students, future doctors, and the patient was ascertained, hence allowing the family to report their illness experience and personal life stories, besides these exchanges of experiences being necessary to the implementation of a more integral and individual care process, which is evidenced by the PCCM
