Since the late 1990s, South Korean popular culture has gradually become visible in neighboring countries in East Asia. Steadily, its popularity has reached beyond its regional boundaries and its influence has extended to countries in the Middle East, Africa, Russia, Europe, and the United States, beyond ethnic Asian communities.
