This chapter considers three questions regarding the role of the Ptolemaic kings in the birth of a combined worship of Isis and Serapis in Greek or Hellenized Egyptian environment. This is to evaluate the game that stands over the three centuries of Greek rule over Egypt between three entities: the goddess Isis, the god Serapis, and the emperor-pharaoh. The three issues are: (1) the presence of two deities in Greek medium before the establishment of the Ptolemaic dynasty; (2) the genesis of their associated worship under the first three Ptolemies by questioning the royal policy; and (3) the questions posed by competition that may exist in these gendered deified royal couple. Two environments are privileged in the chapter, Alexandria and Memphis; this reflection also fits into the framework defined by recent studies. The original text of the chapter is in French. Keywords: Egypt; Greek rule; Isis; pharaoh; Ptolemaic kings; Serapis
