Arruntius( an author known otherwise onlyt hrough citation by Pliny), who took Sallust'sc haracteristic style to extremes. Seneca attacks Arruntius' overuse of charac-teristicallyS allustian stylistic tics: while Sallust had used abstrusev ocabulary sparingly in his works,S eneca criticises Arruntius for applying it throughout,s uch that "what Sallust reserved for occasional use, Arruntius makes into af requent and almost continual habit."
