This chapter focuses on how the city’s technical infrastructure can offer resources for neighborhood activists. The chapter argues that electronic interactive domains are part of larger social, political, and cultural ecologies, rather than as a purely technical condition. Its key example is the way that connectivity is taken as sufficient in itself, while the needs of low-wage workers and low-income neighborhoods are ignored. There may be an enormous range of digital apps in the city, but none of them are designed for these specific groups in their local context. Several efforts are now beginning to address this problem and the chapter goes on to describe some of these initiatives. Such apps can play a crucial role in strengthening neighborhood communities and increase the sense of belonging to a collective public space
