Davis is a professor of English, disability studies, and medical education at the University of Illinois at Chicago where he directs Project Biocultures. He is the author of many books and essays including Obsession: A History (University of Chicago Press, 2008) and Go Ask Your Father: One Man's Obsession to Find his Origins Through Genetic Testing (Random House, 2009). Morris University of Virginia [email protected] David Morris is a writer-scholar (recently retired as university professor at the University of Virginia) who has written numerous essays and two prize-winning books in eighteenth-century studies: The Religious Sublime (University Press of Kentucky, 1972) and Alexander Pope: The Genius of Sense (Harvard University Press, 1984). The Culture of Pain (University of California Press, 1991), which won a PEN prize, has been translated into German, Spanish, and Japanese. Other work includes a book of narrative nonfiction, Earth Warrior (Fulcrum Publishing, 1995), and Illness and Culture in the Postmodern Age (University of California Press, 1998), which has been translated into German, Spanish, Portuguese, and Serbian. He has lectured and written extensively in the field of pain medicine.
