In recent discussions on peer review in philosophy, several discussants have proposed that philosophical manuscripts should more often be posted on websites without any pre-posting review or other quality control by anyone other than the author(s).Preprint archives such as arXiv, bioRxiv, PhilArchive and PhilSci-archive have been held up as positive examples.This is a most welcome suggestion.There is certainly no problem with making one's draft papers available to colleagues.This is just a modern development of the old tradition to distribute papers to colleagues and ask for comments.Many modern philosophical
