人類がおこなう農業は,自然科学や社会科学,それに人文科学をくわえたすべての学問領域にわたる普遍的な主題である。しかし,ルネサンス期以降の「農業科学」がおもに対象としてきたのはヨーロッパ農業であったため,アフリカの在来農業が近代科学の対象として公平にとりあつかわれるようになったのは比較的最近である。本稿ではヨーロッパと日本におけるアフリカ農業にかんする研究の系譜をひもとくとともに,諸分野における近年のおもな課題と動向を概観した
