A Study of the Effects of an Intensive Weekend Group Workshop

Three hypotheses were postulated concerning the effects of an intensive weekend group workshop which emphasized the redecisional process of psychotherapy. As measured by the Personal Orientation Inventory and the Personal Growth Checklist (a non-standardized instrument designed by the researcher) the group as a whole demonstrated change three months following the workshop. This was also substantiated by pre- and post-interviews. The number of redecisions completed by individual participants was not related to the degree of change. It was ambiguous as to whether close associates of the participants could recognize any definable changes three months following the workshop. The seven components of redecision therapy are presented as well as the four elements of the workshop which were judged by the participants as being most helpful
