Laughter is both a sign of cure and a way of curing. It is part of a holistic approach to life and work. Laugh therapy and education in laughter can release the capacity to laugh at oneself, one's self-deception and at the absurdity of the world. It can also release the capacity to laugh with others because of the universal ability to play, to create, to have fun, to enjoy. In this article the benefits of laughter and case studies of laughter being curative are presented as part of the theoretical base for laugh therapy. Concepts of Berne and Freud are discussed and techniques for using laughter in the therapy office, and in organizations such as a baseball team and a hospital staff are included
