For the past decade, he has examined the tactical and strategic role of artworks and cultural sites in national security considerations, providing analyses for a research institute and security consulting firms. He earned his B.A. and Ph.D. degrees from the University of California at Berkeley. A previous article on these matters, "Art-Intelligence Programs: Relevance of the Art World to Foreign Intelligence," was published in the International Journal of Intelligence and CounterIntelligence, Vol. 21, No. 2, Summer 2008
