Wheaton is Assistant Professor of Intelligence Studies at Mercyhurst College, Erie, Pennsylvania. A retired Foreign Officer with the United States Army, he served as a defense and legal attaché at various U.S. embassies in Europe. Postings in various intelligence and related billets included service as Chief of European Analysis at the European Union Commission, Stuttgart, Germany. A graduate of the University of Notre Dame, he earned an M.A. in Russian and East European Studies from Florida State University, and a J.D. from the University of South Carolina Law School. Professor Wheaton is a recipient of the Central Intelligence Agency's Seal Medallion
