The late Middle Kingdom and the so-called Second Intermediate Period is characterised by substantial changes in the socio-economic, the political, as well as the ideological field. The role and function of kingship shifted and royal ideology was modified and adopted to the changing circumstances. In this article stela Cairo CG 20533 coming from Gebelein is discussed in detail. It is especially interesting insofar as it proves the acclamation of a certain Dedu-mose to kingship. Furthermore, this practice of acclamation is analysed in the context of kingship and royal ideology of the new Theban state in the 17th century BCE
