TO celebrate the tercentenary of the birth of Edmond Halley, the the Council of the Royal Society decided to hold a conversazione and exhibition in the Society’s rooms on Wednesday, 21 November 1956. They also agreed to the celebrations being continued on the following evening by the British Astronomical Association
