Through the Society is no longer responsible for the administration of this trust, it administered it for more than one hundred and forty years, 1729 to 1873, and made arrangements for the sermon or lecture, which the founder prescribed should be delivered annually, to be given regularly. In the last number of this journal it was recorded that, at the request of the Council, Professor F. E. Fritsch represented the Royal Society at the service which was held in the parish Church of St Leonard, Shoreditch, and the lecture which was delivered there on 31 May last, in accordance with the terms of the trust. No account of this trust appears in the Record of the Society, nor does Fairchild’s name appear in the list of our benefactors
