Un grand nombre de textes legaux, cultuels et litteraires a ete decouvert dans les annees 1972-1976 sur le site syrien de Meskene, l'ancienne cite de l'Âge du Bronze d'Emar. L'auteur de l'article traite exclusivement de la chronologie des textes legaux, notant que les tablettes syriennes remontent aux annees 1400-1220 av. J.-C. environ, tandis que les tablettes de type syro-hittite datent approximativement de 1275-1210 av. J.-C
