There has been an apparent lack of interest in bioethical issues\namong Australian philosophers. Only recently have bioethics centers been\nestablished and ethical issues begun to be isolated from related legal,\nscientific, economic, political, and social questions. In addition to the\nattention now being paid to new reproductive technologies, others issues under\nstudy in Australia include financing of health care, protection of research\nsubjects, institutional ethics committees, abortion, the definition of death\nas related to organ transplantation, natural death legislation, and the\nteaching of medical ethics.
