In the search for more environmentally friendly processes, the\nuse of micellar structures opens up a range of new\npossibilities. One of the most exciting applications is the\nincorporation of homogeneous catalysts in micelles to\nperform reactions: micellar catalysis. Micellar catalysis can\nbe used to perform for example epoxidation reactions. In this\nway organic solvents, in which epoxidations are usually\nperformed, are replaced by aqueous surfactant solutions. In\nthis study propylene and 1-octene have been successfully\nepoxidized by hydrogen peroxide, catalyzed by micelle\nincorporated porphyrin catalysts. Furthermore, several\nexperimental techniques have been used to get more insight\nin the micelle-catalyst system
