Soon after the revolution in Santo-Domingo, about a thousand French refugees could be found.in the western region of Cuba. They had reached the region through complicated routes between 1790-1805. They has settled there, carrying on various trades. The 1808 events in Spain and their developmènts in Cuba will result into the expulsion of a great number of them here, there, and everywhere in the big island
