This study aimed to explore whether religious affiliation is related to racial awareness and cultural and racial socialization practices among international transracial adoptive parents. Both religiously affiliated and non-religiously affiliated groups were motivated and believed in their capacity for cultural and racial socialization practices. Parents in the religiously affiliated group were slightly less likely to consistently or always engage in cultural and racial socialization practices. However, parents in both groups primarily engaged in cultural and racial socialization practices that require little or no integration with people of their adoptees' race. Implications for social work research and practices are discussed
