The sides in labor conflicts. Sociologists and politicians write about labor conflicts, the mass media and the Central Statistical Administration report on them, but the most improbable ideas circulate as to who is in conflict with whom and who is accepted as an ally. Yet these views predetermine assessments and forecasts of labor conflicts. In our view, it is useful to focus our attention on the sides of a conflict (implicit or explicit) and on the participants' long-term interests and situational objectives (who can enter into an alliance with whom at a specific stage in the conflict, and under what conditions one can expect an exacerbation of the conflict)
