The literature devoted to the analysis of the Russian mentality and the sociocultural fabric of Russian society has grown considerably in recent years. The classic writings of the scholars of the late eighteenth and early nineteenth centuries have been restored to us. We have gained access to the interesting and very profound studies conducted during the postrevolutionary period by our own historians, philosophers, and sociologists who lived as CmigrCs; finally, there have been several works written by specialists in the perestroika and post-perestroika years [l, 2, 3]
