The black woman's experience of her husband's support for her university studies. Traditionally the husband has a higher status than his wife, but this relationship can change when the woman improves her educational status, in which case an unconventional asymmetry can result. When a married woman is studying, she needs the support of her husband and the aim of this study is to use qualitative techniques in an explorative way to collect in-depth information on how black women who are studying at a university, experience the way their husbands support them morally, how much they help with the household chores and the care of the children, and how often the couple have arguments that are caused by the fact that the wife is studying. Interviews conducted with 27 women were used to construct profiles of the extent to which the husband supports his wife. Four profiles of support were identified, namely one of high support, medium to high support, medium to low support, and low support
