Jourard's 60-item Self Disclosure Questionnaire was completed by 100 White male and female South African university students. Although the disclosure patterns of these two groups were similar, the females disclosed significantly more to the mother- and the same-sex-friend-targets than did the males. The results are discussed in terms of male and female university student life-styles and processes of socialization
