Resumo

An adult male from a multiple burial at the centre of an early Bronze Age barrow displays a healed fracture of the tibial condyle. Apparently, this is the first reported evidence for this type of fracture in British archaeological material. It provides evidence for care and compassion in the prehistoric period. Also, it apparently indicates that high social status could be retained by an individual who was suffering from a physical incapacity. Copyright © 2002 John Wiley & Sons, Ltd.
