This is a progress report covering some of the results obtained at the end of one year of a two-year experiment officially entitled Extended Classroom Experimentation with Varied Sequencing of the Four Skills in German Instruction. The experiment is being sponsored by the Language Development Program of the U.S. Office of Education under Title VI of the National Defense Education Act; the University of Colorado's Council on Research and Creative Work is also providing some financial assistance. The present article is based on a paper read at the annual meeting of the Rocky Mountain Chapter of the Modern Language Association, in Laramie, Wyoming, in October 1961
