Located in the Vistre plain, to the south-east of Nîmes (Gard), the site of Mas de Vignoles IV was the subject of a rescue excavation covering an area of 6.5 hectares. The densest occupation levels concern the Neolithic and in particular the Late Neolithic. A few structures dating to the Late Bronze 2 and 3b are however present in the north-eastern sector of the site. The most singular of these is a funerary complex of a type previously unknown in the region. It holds two successive individual burials of adults associated with an important quantity of pottery. The bodies were laid within a large approximately circular pit presenting several internal dispositions. This structure is still being studied, as is the whole of the site, so only partial data are presented here. The remarkable nature of this discovery seemed however to justify its rapid presentation to the scientific community
